1004 - Blackpool Tramway: Cleveleys Total Tram Chaos on Market Day - Tuesday 24th February 2026

Welcome to Podbaba Transport Video 1004 filmed in Cleveleys on Tuesday 24th February 2026. There should have been a 15 minute service in each direction and there were, indeed, the nine trams out that are required to run that service but, according to Blackpool Transport’s social media, there were disruptions due to a “technical fault”. Two or even three trams would arrive together going towards Fleetwood after a long gap and the front one would be going to Thornton Gate with the following tram turning at Fisherman’s Walk. Tuesday is Fleetwood Market day so the front two trams would arrive at and leave Cleveleys almost empty with the third tram, going to Fleetwood Ferry, arriving absolutely packed. Tram crews told us that the technical fault was, in fact, not enough running time when the service is busy and not enough trams to cope with the number of customers wanting to go to Fleetwood. The Bombardier Flexity 2 fleet in service included all six allover adverts plus three trams in fleet livery: 001AD 002 008 009 011AD 013AD 014AD 016AD with 003 out on driver training. Large queues built up and trams turning short did not help as they left people at the stop hoping to board a Fleetwood Ferry tram that was already full. Meanwhile in Victoria Square traffic ground to a halt every time a southbound bus turned into Victoria Road as the driver of a Percival’s Coach – BN11UGJ had dumped his coach on the stop requiring buses to load in the middle of the road next to a traffic island requiring other traffic to just join a queue until the bus had loaded.
