In this weeks video I am sewing a a dress to wear to my husband's cousins' wedding. Phew that's a mouthful! After a whole lot of searching, a couple mock-ups, and some second guessing - I finally decided to combine 2 patterns to create the dress I was looking for. Simplicity Pattern 4707 from the Historically Adequate Atelier on etsy turned out to be a great PDF pattern. The seller did a wonderful job transferring the original pattern into PDF format and the written instructions were clear. I will happily buy from them again! Butterick Retro Pattern B5880 - once again I struggled with sizing on a Butterick pattern. I'm beginning to think I should abandon the measurements for these patterns and simply mock up whatever size I am in retail stores. Of course this means I'll have to go to an actual store and try clothes on... After resizing and alterations I found that I do like the skirt pattern from this retro re-print and might even try making the full dress at some point in the future - perhaps in a different size. For more info about retro re-print patterns check out Stephanie Canada of Backroom Finds. She has multiple videos comparing original patterns to the now popular reprints the pattern manufacturers are selling.
