The Lallantop Show, Episode no. 1906| 17 December 2025 In today’s LT show, Kuldeep is discussing the following news The Lallantop Show 17 December, 2025 The Winter Session is heating up with high-stakes confrontations looming over two transformative bills that could reshape rural employment and India's nuclear future. The government has tabled the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Bill, effectively repealing the iconic MGNREGA and promising 125 days of guaranteed work with a sharper focus on water security, rural infrastructure, and climate resilience. Supporters argue it modernises a creaking scheme, introduces digital transparency through biometrics and geotagging, and truly embodies Gandhian self-reliance in line with the vision of Ram Rajya. Yet the opposition sees it as an assault on a rights-based entitlement born from Congress legacy, fearing the shift to normative funding and greater state burden dilutes the original demand-driven guarantee while insulting Mahatma Gandhi by dropping his name. The Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India Bill seeks to repeal outdated laws from 1962 and 2010, paving the way for private Indian companies to build and operate nuclear plants under a more investment-friendly liability framework. Proponents insist this is essential to scale capacity to 100 GW by 2047, fuel clean energy for data centres, and meet net-zero commitments in an era of soaring power demand. Critics, however, worry that diluting the state's historic monopoly raises serious safety risks, especially when India's nuclear journey began as a strategic response to threats and has long prioritised public control. As toxic haze continues to choke the capital under stringent GRAP restrictions, the labour department has mandated work-from-home for half the workforce and announced a one-time ₹10,000 compensation for registered construction workers hit by the prolonged ban. Daily-wage earners bear the brunt once again, even as a crucial Supreme Court hearing looms that could decide the fate of these curbs. The contrast is stark: while Parliament debates guaranteed rural jobs, urban workers grapple with lost livelihoods in the shadow of pollution.
