For more than a month, I've been fairly busy with work and family, but I managed to finally go railfanning on a very nice Sunday. I decided to check out the Tustin Metrolink Station, mainly for the high-speed action and typical Metrolink action as well. All was good with the exception of a couple of Metrolink delays. Metrolink #661 which was bound for Los Angeles suffered mechanical problems before departing, putting the train an hour late into Tustin. Because Metrolink uses the same sets for many of their weekend trains, Metrolink #661 typically becomes Metrolink #662, a southbound train, once it arrives into Los Angeles. Since Metrolink #661 was late, it caused Metrolink #662 to depart Los Angeles late. Along with that, Metrolink #662 which became Metrolink #665 in Oceanside, also ended up departing late heading north ! I did however stay for Metrolink #662. Although it was eighty minutes late into Tustin, Metrolink #662 had an awesome engineer ! Probably one of the best engineers out there, not only waving and giving a peace sign before departure, but also blasting the P2 horn after seeing me wave back through his side mirror ! Train 1 : Metrolink #660 with F59PHI #881 & CabCar #686. Friendly conductor on Metrolink #660. Train 2 : Metrolink #661 with CabCar #682 & F59PH #873. This train arrived approximately an hour late. Notice that the headlights are flickering upon approach and then completely black out soon after. The train sat at the station for approximately ten minutes idling. Train 3 : Amtrak 567 with CabCar #6904 & F59PHI #460. Amtrak 567 is set on Track 2 instead of Track 1 to pass Metrolink #661. Train 4 : Metrolink #859 with F59PHI #882 & CabCar #658. Metrolink #859 is set to Track 1 to pass Amtrak 567. The boarding announcements warns passengers of Metrolink #859's track assignment. Train 5 : Amtrak 768 with F59PHI #461 & CabCar #6906. This train was hauling, almost flying ! Train 6 : Amtrak 769 with CabCar #6905 & F59PHI #458. I certainly misinterpreted the speed of this train ! Train 7 : Amtrak 572 with P42DC #159 & CabCar #6900. Nice K5LA and echo as #159 passes through the station ! Train 8 : Metrolink #663 with CabCar #686 & F59PHI #881. Train 9 : Amtrak 573 with CabCar #6952 & F59PHI #456. This train was certainly doing close to 90 MPH ! Train 10 : Metrolink #662 with F59PH #873 & CabCar #682. Although eighty minutes late, awesome engineer on F59PH #873 ! Not only giving a wave and a peace sign upon departure, but also blasting the P2 horn as well ! Thanks for Watching !
