Ever since I made that quick round trip to Irvine back in November, I've been stating that I would one day return to this station and railfan, and after six months, on a nice Sunday, I was able to do just that. While planning my trip to Irvine, I became aware of security as a problem at this station, mainly in regards to permission to film here. So because of this, I didn't take any precautions and legitimately contacted the City of Irvine for information. I managed to get a letter from the city and railfanned all the trains I wished to railfan unimpeded by security. I was however finally confronted after I was done railfanning, but because I had my letter from the city, I was able to continue my filming without problems. Lot's of railfans have had problems with security in general when it comes to railfanning, but as long as you have a letter from the city you're railfanning in, or some other form of documentation, you won't be bothered too severely and you can happily railfan without complications. It was kind of funny however because actual police officers that I managed to talk to before they boarded Metrolink #663 to check fares stated that they supported the first amendment and that no permission was needed to film on public property ! Nonetheless, Irvine is still a great place to relax and railfan with ample station amenities, serenity between trains, and neat camera angles ! Train 1 : Amtrak 567 with CabCar #6908 & F59PHI #453. Looks like the engineer is a bit camera shy. Train 2 : Metrolink #859 with F59PH #18520 & CabCar #677. Train 3 : Amtrak 768 with F59PHI #451 & CabCar #6951. Amtrak 768 ended up arriving into Irvine a couple of minutes early. Notice that the engineer and one of the conductors got off the train for a quick break and discussion. Friendly conductor as well. Train 4 : Amtrak 769 with CabCar #6907 & F59PHI #464. Nice engineer giving a peace sign as he departs. Train 5 : Metrolink #662 with MP36PH-3C #890 & CabCar #657. Train 6 : Amtrak 572 with P42DC #159 & CabCar #6900. This train caught me by surprise mainly because it pulled into Irvine a couple of minutes ahead of schedule. Very friendly engineer on P42DC #159 ! Not only blasting the horn as he pulled into the station, but also as he departs as well ! Train 7 : Metrolink #663 with CabCar #669 & F59PH #852. Friendly conductor on Metrolink #663 ! Thanks for Watching !
