Three configurations of SWIR camcorders were used in the energy efficiency survey of the National Gallery of Art in March 2020. Each is shown, along with sample footage taken by the pioneers of this innovative revolutionary technique. The current grade levels of these world pioneers of advanced energy conservation technology are grades 6 though 8, i.e middle school. Video debut during nationwide Zoom meeting, presented by the energy survey videographers. Energy efficiency professionals and educators calling in as guests from coast to coast to learn of their work and methods. Hosted and presented by Lowell School's Climate Club and Mobile Climate Science Labs student volunteers and their wonderful teachers. All the students are in middle school in Washington DC. Various display techniques are shown. Split screen, opacity fading of overlaid images, toggling between SWIR and visible light, screen swipes, among others. Videography by Abigail Stark, Adam, Ella, Emma, Evie and Neo. SWIR images in pinkish-purple are from the full spectrum converted Canon Vixia camcorder. Canon Vixia camcorders do not have a monochrome option. SWIR images in black and white /gray scale were taken with the modified basic night vision camcorders, which automatically switch to monochrome when in SWIR mode. All SWIRs camera configurations in this video included a high quality IR pass/visible light blocking filter. Front-of-lens mounted. All filters where 850nm nominal. Meaning that the SWIR light imaged is effectively 850nm to ~1000nm in the wavelength band. (The longer wavelength limit determined by the light frequency sensitivity range of the camera's given silicon sensor.) Further technical details and contact information will appear of the summer of 2020, on the soon to be re-activated website Energy-Education.net Playlist: Energy Efficiency Surveys and Treasure Hunts • SWIR Camcorders: Student's Energy Survey o...
