Ancient cultures built cities around salt sources, traded it like gold, and even used it as payment. But today, salt is surrounded by confusion. Is salt good for you? Is salt bad for you? It all depends on what kind you’re talking about. ⚠️ Not All Salt Is Real What is real salt? Real salt is unrefined, mineral-rich, and harvested with minimal processing. Fake salt—like most white table salt—is chemically bleached, stripped of minerals, and often contains additives. So when we ask, what salt is good for health, or what salt to use, the answer is simple: real salt—like sea salt or Himalayan pink salt. These natural salts support hydration, nerve function, and even digestion. 🧪 The Salt Scare In the 20th century, studies linked salt to high blood pressure. But these often involved extreme amounts—or lab injections, not real food. That research ignored what salt does to your body when it’s real vs. processed. We’ve been asking the wrong question. Instead of asking is salt bad for you, we should ask: what kind of salt are we consuming—and what salt can do when it’s from God’s creation? 🧂 How Much Salt Do We Need? So how much salt per day is healthy? Most people need about 1.5 to 2.5 teaspoons per day, especially if you’re eating clean and sweating regularly. That includes the salt naturally found in whole foods, and the real salt you add when cooking. Asking how much salt should you eat a day or how much salt do we need per day? The answer isn’t zero—and the real danger may be in not getting enough of the right kind. ✨ Salt In The Bible Throughout Scripture, salt was used in every offering. It symbolized preservation, healing, and God’s everlasting covenant. The biblical meaning of salt is rich and full of truth. We’re not meant to fear salt—but we should discern the difference between real and fake. God gave us food to nourish and heal—not to confuse or harm. 🚫 What Salt To Use And Avoid Avoid salt substitutes with warning labels. If it says, consult your doctor, it’s probably not from the earth God gave us. Instead of asking what salt is best, focus on what God designed: mineral-rich, natural salt. That’s the kind that blesses the body. Salt is not the enemy. When we use real salt, we honor both our health and God's design. Let’s stop asking is salt bad for you—and instead, reclaim its rightful place. ***** This content is strictly the opinion of Annette Reeder and is for informational and educational purposes only.
