Dog rips toddler's front teeth out during attack

It all started with this picture — Valeria Capetillo snapping a photo after hearing something at her front door two weeks ago. Valeria Capetillo: "I took a peek, literally opened the door." She had planned to post the photo on Facebook to help the dog find its way home. But then her three-year-old son, Santiago, came running. Valeria Capetillo: "It just happened so fast. And I couldn't—I tried to stop the dog, to, I mean, put my leg so he could bite me instead, but he just went after him." Santiago's parents say the neighbor’s dog lunged through the door, attacking their son. Alex Capetillo: "My first instinct was to get the dog off of my son. So I choked the dog enough to where it kinda gave a little cry, let go, and finally, whenever the dog let go, I went ahead and just picked him up and threw him outside of the house." Even the Amazon delivery driver was cautious around the dog as police arrived to investigate. Santiago’s parents rushed him to the hospital. Alex Capetillo: "The dog ripped out two teeth — his two front teeth on top ripped them out." The attack, which happened on Nov. 18, also left Santiago with fractured facial bones and scratches to his eye and eyelids.
