This follows on from the previous video on geological dating:    • How do we date rocks?   The definition of geological time intervals isn't quite as straightforward as you might think... and the way we do it is to define a Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for each interval. This video is an explanation of the principle, how it works in practice, and how it is applied... either with no publicity at all, or as a major event and tourist destination!
