Most of our actual research is based on the beautiful and amazing Builth-Llandrindod Inlier of central Wales, UK: an ancient volcanic island system, with fossils galore! The fossils include multiple sites with exceptional preservation (such as the famous Castle Bank), but also many other localities with more 'normal' fossils... which combine to give us an extraordinary case study of palaeoecology. As it happens, we've just found a new fossil site, out in the hills, which helps us to fill in our understanding of how life developed in this ancient caldera system. It also has some very odd fossils that mean we're going to have to go back... Presented by Joe Botting, independent palaeontologist and Honorary Research Fellow at the National Museum Wales. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Channel Membership: to support the channel for £3.99 per month, please investigate the 'join' button underneath the video.
