Body image in general is hard, but to go through a major weight gain and work for weight loss 3x in 5 years is a lot. My first postpartum I did 75 hard, with my second, that just wasn't possible. With my third I have this weird calm. This knowing that I WILL get back to myself but I have far less stress about it it. Before I was trying to get back in shape to prepare to get pregnant again. Now? I don't want to add stress to an already stressful transition. So, I've made some goals for myself: 1. A gallon of water 2. No added sugar 3. 15 min of movement which lately has been yoga which feels like a nice warm hug I see moms who's youngest is 4 and they have time to go to the gym and focus on themselves more. I know that time is coming for me, and so I'm really not stressed about it now. Overall, I'm pretty content with my physical appearance, but is my stomach sticking out more than I'd like? Yep. Do I also have a weird fixation on it? Also yes. Postpartum body image has a very polarizing effect. It feels like you can only be grateful for the life it created or you want to snap back... but I feel somewhere in the middle. I'm immensely grateful AND I want to get back to feeling like myself. FEELING good in my clothes, feeling good about my strength. In the meantime I'm doing things that make me feel good (ie, makeup *see MERIT link at the top*, my bangs, buying jeans that fit my current version well, a gallon of water). And just enjoying my freaking babies. Eat nourishing food because the top priority is my breastfed baby. While also not talking about any of this in front of my child.
