Caerhays Beach or Porthluney Cove is a fantastic place to SUP! Settled beneath the striking grounds of Caerhays Castle & Gardens is Porthluney Cove, also known as Caerhays Beach. The beach is also part of the Caerhays estate and a motorised water craft ban has been put in place to keep the preserve the tranquillity of the cove. This south-facing sandy beach overlooks Gerrans Bay on the south coast of Cornwall, approximately 4 miles west of Mevagissey. The beach located in the swell shadows of the Lizard and Roseland Peninsulas, often resulting in calm waters ideal for swimming and bathing. Unlike many of the other beaches along this part of the coast, Porthluney has a large expanse of sand that does not become submerged at high tide. Facilities available to visitors include a small shop, cafe and toilets. Directions - Follow directions to Mevagissey, shortly after the Pentwean turning, take a right onto the Gorran Haven road. Follow signposts to Caerhays and take the road through Rescassa and onwards to Porthluney. There is a car park adjacent to the beach that is also used by Caerhays Castle visitors.
