A talk by David Warden, Chair of Dorset Humanists. It’s probably no exaggeration to say that in the last ten years there’s been a revolution in the way we think and talk about sex, gender, and transgenderism. This is all about the ‘T’ in the acronym ‘LGBT’ and its longer variants. This is the fourth talk on trans issues we’ve hosted at Dorset Humanists. Our first was in 2016 by Jay Murray and members of the local trans community. Our second was in 2018 by Ronnie Barr who was our diversity representative until 2021. Our third was in 2020 by Richard Jones, a member of our pastoral team, who specialises in therapeutic counselling for this community. David Warden was the founding Chair of the Dorset County Council LGBT Workers Group and he is currently the LGBT representative on the Bournemouth and Poole Holocaust Memorial day Committee. David, a qualified humanistic counsellor and former diversity trainer, foregrounds the voices of two people who have transitioned and he aims to help us to think through some of the public controversies about this topic which have grown louder in recent years. Dorset Humanists are a non-religious group of Humanists, Atheists & Agnostics who meet in Bournemouth, Dorset, England. www.dorsethumanists.co.uk
