If you love crispy teatime snacks, this Khasta Masala Mathri recipe is perfect for you! In this video, I will show you how to make perfectly crispy, flaky, and crunchy masala mathri at home using simple ingredients. This is an easy Indian namkeen snack recipe that stays fresh for weeks and tastes amazing with chai. Perfect for festivals like Holi or as an evening tea-time snack. 🌟 Benefits of Masala Mathri Long shelf life – stays fresh for 2–3 weeks in an airtight container Perfect tea-time snack Great for festivals & gifting Crispy and flaky texture Easy to make at home with basic ingredients No preservatives 🛒 Ingredients (For 500g Maida) 500 grams Maida (All-Purpose Flour) – approx. 4 cups 1 tsp Ajwain (Carom Seeds) ½ tsp Crushed Jeera (Cumin Seeds) ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder 1 tsp Salt (adjust to taste) ¼ tsp Baking Soda (or ½ tsp Baking Powder) 1 tsp Kasuri Methi 150 grams Oil (for moyan) Approx. 150 ml Water (for kneading) Oil for deep frying 👩🍳 Method – Step-by-Step Recipe 1️⃣ In a large bowl, add maida, ajwain, crushed jeera, black pepper powder, salt, baking soda and kasuri methi. Mix well. 2️⃣ Add 150g oil (moyan) and mix with hands until the flour binds when pressed. This step ensures an extra crispy and khasta texture. 3️⃣ Gradually add water and knead into a tight dough. Do not make it soft. 4️⃣ Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15–20 minutes. 5️⃣ After resting, apply a little oil on hands and knead slightly. 6️⃣ Make small dough balls. Flatten gently with hands to shape the mathri (you can also roll, but hand-pressed gives better texture). 7️⃣ Heat oil on low-medium flame. Oil should be slightly warm, not very hot. 8️⃣ Add mathri to oil. When bubbles appear, reduce flame to low. 9️⃣ Fry on low flame for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Turn occasionally. 🔟 Remove and cool completely before storing. Now your crispy, flaky, khasta masala mathri is ready! Serve with hot tea and enjoy with family. ❤️ If you loved this unique Mathri recipe, please LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE to @CookingWith-Shivani for easy and tasty Indian veg recipes made with love.
