... in which I make the most of my first visit to Sweden since 2013 by heading to Stockholm's Old Town, Gamla Stan. I wander the streets with my Nikon Z 6 and 24-200mm lens and then review the results, comparing them to my photos from 12 years ago and ask myself, after a dozen years, have I actually become a better photographer? Back then my camera was a Panasonic Lumix GF1 and the weather was colder back in February 2013. But the photos were ripe; they definitely suffered a case of over-editing. High Dynamic Range was a 'thing' in 2013 and many of the photos are blighted by heavy-handed post processing, leading to either a panoply of colours or grim frames from a Scandinavian Noir film. But while I can see some technical restraint in my more recent photographs, I did wonder if perhaps I've lost some of that willingness to experiment. On the other hand, there is an encouraging focus more on the people and capturing human moments, so maybe I'm slowly becoming a more emotionally intelligent and empathetic human being or … No… let's not ask for too much in 12 years.
