YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In his first 60 days, Youngstown Mayor Derrick McDowell said his administration has centered its work on education, economic development and core city services. Speaking at a Rotary Club of Youngstown luncheon, he cited his decision to hold his inauguration at East High School as a signal that Youngstown City Schools must remain a community priority. McDowell pointed to new leadership in community planning, efforts to stabilize downtown energy service, coordination during the severe winter storm and renewed attention to infrastructure and water system challenges. He also highlighted changes in police and fire operations aimed at improving morale, accountability and response.
