I'm Daren Willcock and this is a look at the Divine attributes and mission of Jesus of Nazareth. What did the earliest followers of Jesus—devout Jewish monotheists—actually believe about him? How could they exalt Jesus so highly while still praying, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4)? In this video, we go back to the text itself. Not to the councils of the 4th century. Not to later creeds and confessions. But to the words of Jesus, his apostles, and the Hebrew scriptures they treasured. 🔍 What we explore: What does "Son of God" (huios theou, υἱὸς θεοῦ) actually mean in its Jewish context? How did Jesus himself define his relationship to the Father? What did Paul mean when he wrote, "There is one God, the Father... and one Lord, Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 8:6)? Can Jesus be "divine" without being "God Almighty"? 📖 Our method: We let Scripture interpret Scripture. We examine the grammar, the history, and the culture.
