Effective employee training is more essential than ever. Where you have engaging and relevant learning content, you have interested and educated employees. But where you have learning content that can’t hold their attention… well, that’s a problem. With the right approach, organisations can create impactful learning experiences that enhance skills, boost engagement and deliver real results. And one of the best ways to do that is through bespoke eLearning. _____________________ What’s in this webinar? What is Bespoke E-Learning? Bespoke e-learning is content created from scratch, tailored to an organisation's culture, processes, and specific learning objectives. While it takes more time and resources, it is more impactful for creating cultural change [07:48]. Impact: It creates a more memorable learner experience because it is relevant and specific to their role and workplace [07:57]. Ownership: The client owns the intellectual property, allowing them to reuse or share the asset with suppliers or other parties [17:58]. When to Choose Bespoke E-Learning Bespoke is recommended for areas where cultural change or high relevance is crucial [20:20]. Examples of topics best suited for a bespoke approach include: Induction/Onboarding: To make a great first impression and focus on company history and heritage [08:18]. Microlearning (Digital Nudges): Short, impactful, 10-minute courses designed for quick reflection or awareness on topics like unconscious bias [09:13]. Management Development: To create a resource that reflects the specific culture and practices of the organisation's management [09:53]. Compliance (Global/Specific): To bring dry or legalistic topics to life and localise content for specific cultural or legislative contexts (e.g., anti-money laundering, working with actors) [10:42], [13:00]. Sustainability/Climate Change: To localise wide global issues and illustrate specific production processes or individual roles within the company [12:03]. Safeguarding: Due to the complexity of the subject matter, a tailored approach is needed to ensure the context is relevant to the employee's job [13:28]. The Role of the Instructional Designer (ID) The instructional designer (ID) is the crucial, often-missed role in the content creation process [14:31]: Storytelling: The ID focuses on the storytelling aspect, taking content from the client (e.g., policies, workbooks) and determining the most effective way to deliver it [15:22]. Storyboard: They apply learning theories and take accessibility into account to create a storyboard that details the visual presentation of information [15:47]. Engagement: IDs ensure the course is engaging, using techniques like interactive exercises (e.g., drag and drop, flip card) and scripting animations [26:41]. Bespoke vs. Customised vs. Off-the-Shelf The three options can be viewed as a Bronze/Silver/Gold model [19:27]: Off-the-Shelf (Bronze): Ready-made courses that are quickly deployable and updated annually. Best for generic topics (eg certain health & safety, time management, mental health). Customised (Silver): Takes an off-the-shelf course and applies cosmetic changes (eg branding, chief exec quotes, changing audio) but does not alter core case studies. Best for bridging the gap between generic and specific (eg soft skills with policy additions). Bespoke (Gold): Built from scratch, highly tailored content. Best for cultural change, high relevance, and unique organisational requirements. Implementation and Logistics Stakeholders: Key stakeholders include Subject Matter Experts, Technical Leads (for the LMS), Digital Accessibility experts, and the target audience [24:29]. LMS: Ciphr can assist clients with their own Learning Management System (LMS) or help them source other options, ensuring the ability to track completion [29:44]. Mobile Design: Bespoke courses can work on mobile and tablet devices, but this needs to be incorporated into the design from the beginning [29:13]. _________________ Want more great HR webinars from Ciphr?
