[ROMANCING DIFFICULTY] Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge Of The Seven Postgame Superboss

After several hundred hours, I managed to pull it off. I had to do four runs of the game to get enough once per run items to reach a point where I felt comfortable with tackling Romancing difficulty on Revenge of The Seven, but I got there in the end. The post-game superboss, Dread Queen, is another RNG heavy fight. If she decides to use Vortex or another move at the wrong time, you're done for. I have decided to use a combination of cheese moves, including things I have not seen others mention. On one hand, I was informed about how if you have a shield up ie Fire Wall or Missile Shield, then Shadow Servant will not be removed when you are hit by a physical move. However, no one seemed to be talking about Life Blade until I brought it up. A detail that goes unmentioned by the game is that, after casting Life Blade, you will avoid ANYTHING for the rest of the turn. Even a Balm being used on you by an ally. Or in this case, a Landslide, a Vortex, or a 99,999 Staff Strike Enrage. And we can use that to our advantage. The queen has a predictable offense pattern when you hit her for enough damage-- she will do a Landslide and a Vortex, and shortly after she begins doing one move followed by a 3-step enrage charge. You're expected to beat her first phase at this point, and so the game just loops this basic attack pattern if you somehow survive. And survive I did by using Life Blade's evasion effect. Life Blade instantly ends any battle that has neither a boss nor an undead enemy. While neither are the case here, that doesn't matter, as what I wanted was to just survive, and cheese my Overdrive bars back to full. By using Yo-Yo to deal the remainder of the chip damage, alongside even normal attacks, I enter the second phase with optimal conditions. Phase two is another gamble. the queen has some devastating moves, and I've had attempts where she'd Deadly Drive, Vortex, and double Rain of Death before I even have a chance to counter. This run took well over two dozen attempts. You want to take advantage of the fact that you have coverage on MOST of her moves, and focus on damaging her down using an axe or similar. I chose axes because they are a one handed weapon which can hit a weakness on both phases. My Willguard+ still comes in handy here as a last resort. Also, yes, I used Perennial Victim + Undying!Souji as my main freaking tank, and it worked. At the very end, I was shocked how he got downed but the AI focused on others. 1LP and tubercolusis make the best tank ever I show the builds I used but the general idea here is to use Imperial Force to take full advantage of increased offense, have Final Emperor full of offensive abilities while staying in the magic spot to still hit damage cap, and making sure you have the speediest yet strongest units in the game. Kongming is the obvious choice for a mage as the embodiment of minmaxing, Souji is second only to Final Emperor in agility plus str, and then Fuyou and Drake come next class wise, not counting Coppelia.
