Outlook for Egypt's economy - BBC report

(aired in December 2014) Now to Egypt where three years of political and social unrest -- wreaked havoc on the country’s economy. Foreign reserves plummeted as investors and tourists kept their distance. But hope was restored in June this year when former military General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was elected President following a pledge to kickstart the economy. Backed by more than 10 billion dollars of aid from Gulf countries President Sisi announced a slew of infrastructure projects while raising taxes and slashing fuel subsidies.
