Sekhmet is an egypt Goddess, depicted as a lioness or a woman with a lioness head, crowned with a solar disk and the uraeus. Sekhmet is daughter of the sun god Ra. Known as the “Eye of Ra,” she embodied Ra’s vengeance, breathing fire and unleashing desert storms. Associated with destruction and disease, but also with healing and medicine. Priests of Sekhmet were skilled in medical practices. In myths, Ra sent Sekhmet to punish humanity for disobedience. Her bloodlust was so great that she nearly destroyed all mankind, but Ra tricked her into drinking beer dyed red to resemble blood, calming her fury and transforming her into Hathor, the gentler goddess of love.
