Overcast skies and a wide, open snowy landscape. We started the climb through the quiet meadows and woods, following a path covered in deep, fresh snow. We headed toward a viewpoint to see the snow-covered peaks of the Bohemian Forest (Šumava) resting under a heavy layer of clouds. After a short break at the top, we began our descent across the mountain meadows. The visibility was clear as we made our way through deep, untouched snow, passing a lonely hunter’s high seat with constant views of the distant mountains on the horizon. No music. No talking. Just the rhythmic sound of breaking through deep drifts and the cold, still atmosphere of a winter afternoon. Our dog Ronnie absolutely loves these conditions—watching him jump through the deep snow like an Arctic fox is the highlight of the trip.
