Plastic welding, or thermofusion is a simple, yet permanent way to weld Paneltim panels together. The relatively thin cross-section of our panel’s face surface and ribs makes for a fast welding cycle. Saving you labor, machinery cycle times and transportation costs. With plastic welding you create a completely continuous, attractive waterproof bond and seal. You can process all our standard panels to all desired dimensions and shapes by means of three primary welding techniques. Hot Air welding is the entry level and most common way to weld Paneltim together. Plastic welding wire is fed through a guide tube at the end of a hot air gun’s nozzle, the hot air is directed at the intersection of the two pieces being joined, heating the plastic and as the gun is moved by the operator the wire melts onto the heated surfaces. This technique is used for the quick assembly and construction where standard strength is required. Extrusion welding uses a welding wire, and a handheld gun, but this machine is larger. The plastic wire is finely chopped and ground in the barrel of the machine, and under heat and pressure the gun delivers a larger bead of molten plastic to the two panels being joined. This technique is for more demanding applications, where greater weld strength is necessary. Buttwelding is performed on a large stationary shop machine. It is a way of welding two panels on edge, welding long lengths of joint in a single short cycle. The edge of two panels are clamped securely and pushed briefly against a heated bar. The contact with the heat source makes the edges of the panels slightly molten. When the heated bar drops down, the panels are pressed together so that they can bond and remain clamped until cool and then released as one larger piece. Butt welding panels together on edge produces the smoothest weld on the face surface. And is certainly the fastest welding technique. We promise you; once you have tried welding Paneltim, it will change the way you build certain things. ► At Paneltim, we’re passionate about building better. We empower manufacturers to build smarter, with a product that’s lightweight and easy to work with. To build better with panels that are strong, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean.
