Surrounding Brian Head Peak and the adjacent Cedar Breaks National Monument are fields and hills full of brilliant, sometimes enormous, Agates. In this video we do a deep dive in how the Agate found here was formed. Unlike much of the chalcedony, agates, jaspers, found in the Southern Utah Region, the agate in this area was not formed within volcanic rock. Rather, it was formed within a limestone layer of the Clarion formation that was once a seabed. Come along with Shadow and me while we explore the area, read up its geologic history, and gather beautiful and rather large agate. We also spent the night doing astrophotography and imaging the cosmos. We hope you enjoy the image of IC 1396, otherwise known as "The Elephant Trunk Nebula."
