Gyergyószentmiklós is located 800 meters above sea level near the river Békény and has perhaps one of the coldest climates in the Carpathian Basin. Near to this town among the range of mountains you can find Hungary's historical border, the Békás Pass which is a popular destination for tourists. Gyergyó as a civil parish was first mentioned in a charter which dates back to 1406. In the late medieval ages much of the population consisted of the militant Székelys but in the 17th century another ethnic group, the Armenians appeared. By that time Gyergyószentmiklós was the largest town in Székely Land. Bálint Kovács, historian: How could the Armenians fit into such a closed society as the Székely's? Why did they choose such an austere place as the Gyergyó Basin? How could they centralize Europe's regions already in the 17-18th century and how could they fit into the given environment? How did they integrate? In our movie we are in search of answers for these questions.
