Recorded in November 2018 The Marshlink line runs for 26 miles between Hastings on the Sussex coast, across the Romney Marshes to Ashford International. The stations along the way are: Ore, Three Oaks, Doleham, Winchelsea, Rye, Appledore and Ham Street. The line was opened by the South Eastern Railway in 1851 as that companies main route to Hastings but was made obsolete a few years later by the direct line via Tunbridge Wells. It became a backwater and was seriously considered for closure under the Beeching axe in the 1970’s. This obviously didnt happen, but even now is only run by Southern 171 Turbostar DMU’s. Stations Visited: Ashford International, Ham Street, Appledore, Rye, Winchelsea, Doleham, Three Oaks, Ore and Hastings Hope you guys enjoy :)
