Once an avid runner, Harvard neuroscientist Dr. Sara Lazar was told to give up running after sustaining an injury. When she first heard of mindful yoga as a possible alternative for exercise, she wasn't convinced because back then, yoga was silly and overrated to her. But after just a few weeks, she started to notice that it was really impacting her mind and body. Since then for the past 20 years, she's been specialising in research to show how mindful meditation changes the brain and how these effects can truly lead to long lasting changes in our well-being for the better.
