One night at Bitterpan 1 March 2023 The one-way 4x4 trail from Nossob to Bitterpan and out to Craig Lockhart waterhole. You must have a 4x4 vehicle with low range capability and deflate your tyres to 1.4 bar before leaving Nossob. It took us about 3 hours 20 minutes from Nossob to Bitterpan, with a few stops for photos. On the way in, we encountered one dune that needed low range about 10 km from Nossob. The way out took us about 3 hours. On the way out there were a few tough dunes that needed low range between Strathmore and Nu-Quap (both disused waterholes). Bitterpan has 4 twin bedrooms, with private shower room each, fenced braai area each and a communal kitchen and communal braai area. With friendly neighbours, it was a lovely stay.
