Episode 110 On Christmas, we posted a short video showing some of the new donkeys, Belgian Draft horses and a Percheron that we rescued since the beginning of December 2024. Our foundation (Big Hoof Foundation) has been working hard rescuing more horses and donkeys before the year ended. In December alone, we rescued 5 - Donkeys, 3 - Belgian Draft horse mares, a Percheron mare, and 3 - Belgian Draft horse geldings from shipping to slaughter. Bringing the total number of rescued equines in 2024 to 60! Some of the horses/donkeys have come to us with major medical issues. We have been working to get them all back healthy so they can live a peaceful retirement life on our sanctuary retirement farm. We had an anonymous donor who paid the bail and transport for most of these horses and donkeys. The rest of the funds were raised and with the help of our supports we were able to save these precious lives. This video is the story of all of the new arrivals to the farm since the beginning of December 2024 and the first horse rescued in 2025 along with an update on how they are doing! Thank you to everyone for all of your support in 2024 and we hope you had a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year! Christmas News Story from News Channel 10 in Amarillo link mentioned in this video. https://www.newschannel10.com/2024/12... As a growing horse rescue group, we rely on monetary donations to keep the organization moving forward. The Big Hoof Foundation will always be transparent with how your donations are used. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the rescued horses' bail fees, transport, feed, hay, medical bills, medications, alternative medical treatments, supplements, surgeries, etc. Every dollar raised is for the horses! We have a fundraiser going for all the medical bills for the 48 equines we have rescued since the beginning of September. We could definitely use your support with this fundraiser. All the details of the fundraiser along with copies of the medical bills are at www.bighooffoundation.org We hope you enjoy this video! If you would like to send a gift/donation of feed (Alfa Pro or beardless wheat) you can send that through our local feed store, HF & C Amarillo. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo/Big Hoof Foundation and they will add the gifts to our account. We are feeding the herd round bales of beardless wheat and the horses go through about 6 bales every few days. A round bale of beardless wheat is $140. We also use small square bales of beardless wheat and can be purchased through HF&C Amarillo for $14.95 each. Our special needs horses also eat Alfa-Pro which is a complete pelleted alfalfa mixed with vitamins and minerals. Alfa-Pro is $17.45 per bag. They do offer a discount if you purchase by the pallet (40 - 50 pound bags) $16.95 per bag if purchased by the pallet.
