Welcome aboard the S28 service of the Argovia (Aargau) S-Bahn system. Our route today takes us on the branch line from Lenzburg to Zofingen, which lies parallel to the east - west main corridor through Switzerland. It plays an important role for those directly served, but only a subordinate role for the national railways, because the mentioned parallel railway is equipped with two to four tracks and allows for much faster speeds. Sounds like a relaxed cab ride with views onto the landscape and yes, that‘s what you can expect here! This is a round trip, so you‘ll see the line in both directions. On our trip(s), we will pass Kölliken, which is well-known in Switzerland for the now closed and cleaned hazardous waste landfill. During the years of the cleanout, the railway also had its role in transporting the waste away from there. What‘s left of it today is a visible patch where the tracks once were and two dwarf signals. Also on this route is Safenwil, home to the biggest car dealership in Europe. This route is therefore also frequented by many car transport freight trains.
