Strawberries being grown in a Growring, the centre of the Growring has already been planted with sweet pea and the strawberries are being grown round the edge. They are being planted in a mixture of compost and soil that has been well manured. Although Strawberries are not a hungry crop if planted out on the allotment they will benefit from the addition of bone meal from the addition of about 500gms/sq.m. Strawberry plants are at their best for about three years after which they should be replaced.with fresh plants, moving to a different area of the garden or if using a container replacing the soil also. These plants in the video are being grown in a raised container so regular watering will be essential over the summer. Strawberries like good sun but can grow with some shade although cropping will be reduced.
