$1.06M federal boost moves new town hall plan toward reality in Mead Township

Mead Township is moving closer to building a new town hall after securing more than $1 million in federal funding, a major boost to a project local leaders say has been needed for years. The old garage is more than a century old, and hasn't been usable in the last few years, according to township trustee Ed Good. “We have not been in there in the past couple of years just because it’s uninhabitable,” Good said. “It’s over 100 years old, we were putting a lot of money into repairs. It still had single pane windows.” The township has been using some of PTT’s facilities as a town hall and township garage. Funding for a new facility has grown over the past few years, including $75,000 from congressional directed spending and another $300,000 secured through State Sen. Brian Chavez via the state’s capital spending bill. But big news came to the area out of Washington-- $1.06 million was been secured to build a new township hall.
