Lhasa is rightly one of the most dreamt-about cities in the world. This is not only because of its high altitude at 3,650 meters (11,975 feet) which means remoteness and limited accessibility, but also because of its over 1,000 years' cultural and spiritual history which leaves an impressive heritage that has helped to create the romantic and mysterious Tibetan religion. In the Tibetan language, Lhasa means the Holy Land or the Buddha Land. This video report offers you images of our visit to Lhasa. Images of the Potala Palace and the bazaar in Barkhor Street. In Barkhor the pilgrims walk in large rounds around the most important temple of Tibetan Buddhism: the Jokhang Temple. Some Pilgrims repeatedly fall to the ground (prostration, literally pulling down, on-earth-repudiation) while muttering mantras. Prostration is very popular and common in Tibet. It is a movement to worship to the Buddha. We visited the Drepung Monastery and the Sera Monastery. Drepung Monastery is one of the six largest temples of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The white buildings of Drepung Monastery scatter on the slope of the mountain. Sera Monastery, one of the renowned Tibetan Buddhist temples of the Gelug Sect (Yellow Hat) with it's Debate Garden.
