Make your amp look like a $million custom job easily. These mods can be applied to almost any tube amp or tube amplifier and can improve the overall look to create a truly custom amplifier that many guys will ask what is it or where did you get that when they see and hear it! 00:00 start 00:13 Intro & Preamble 02:00 Buying wood 02:48 Where from? 04:50 What I received 05:24 Sanding Sealer 05:44 The Dye I used 06:18 The Lacquer 06:50 Testing sealer & dyes 07:05 The results 07:53 Costs 08:34 Other custom mods 08:42 Custom markings 09:27 Custom switch rings 12:22 Cost of the rings 12:43 Sum up so far 14:14 Finished amp Links: John Ambler: https://www.luthierwood.com Noisy Hammer (Case Maker): https://www.noisyhammer.com And there are many more brands of amps on my channel at / tonymckenziecom My website has hundreds of reviews of guitar gear, effects pedals, amp simulators and so much more all reviewed in ways others never do - get REAL REVIEWS now: https://tonymckenzie.com So I had completed the Ceriatone Train Wreck Expression amplifier All Access amp and had bought a case from Ceriatone. I ordered a dark green case and it looks brilliant. But as a sort of train wreck clone I wanted to 'jazz it up' a little and that got me thinking. I could create a few aesthetic modifications that will make that amp a little more in keeping with a custom clone of the said style of amp. But once I thought a little more, these modifications to the tube amp aesthetics can make many tube amps look really cool and totally boutique or custom made amps... and lets face it, getting these sort of one-off mods from makers would cost you the earth, even if the boutique amp maker could even bother. So why not make some for your amp yourself? Its really not that hard and I'm sure with a little practice that you too can improve the looks of your amp in some way. These ideas are all my own and this video by the way is NOT SPONSORED in any way. I have showed the components I used on my amp in this video, but remember you can get them from anyone. Its all up to you and I sincerely hope that it gets you thinking about how to mod the looks of your amp. And IMPORTANTLY these mods are all fully reversible if you want the amp back as it was. So I bought this amp from Ceriatone. Indeed Nik was frankly the best feature you could wish for! The Ceriatone support is honestly rated at a 10/10 and is recommended. So on to these aesthetics... the amp is fine as it is, but add a little pizazz to the mix and get your amp looking totally boutique - and pretty soon the audience will be asking exactly what that amp really is!
