October 8, 2022 Edwad, my beautiful boy, had a vet visit today. This was a routine visit but I had concerns regarding him sleeping more than usual. we saw Dr. Nur and she Listen to Edward's heart. Edward has fluid that is pooling in his heart making breathing difficult. He will now he will be on medications (Lasik) for the remainder of his life. We are going to have another vet visit in about a week to see how he is reacting to the medications. If he is reacting well, no dosage changes will happen. But if he isn't getting rid of the excess fluid, we're going to increase the dosage. October 14, 2022 Edward went in for re-check. Dr. Nur wanted to see how he was doing with his new meds and to see if we needed to up his dose. Dr. Nur did notice some drainage on the excess fluid build-up but it was decided that we up his does to 2 units. we'll be back at the clinic on the 25th October 25, 2022 Edward had a re-visit with Dr. Nur. Edward has a heart arrhythmia and because his heart doesn't pump properly, he's abdomen gets fluid build-up. In his last appointment, it was decided that his medication (Lasik) be increased from one unit to two units. October 30, 2022 After a steady decline in Edward's health, yesterday I decided to bring him to our emergency avian vets. When we had arrived, we were greeted by Dr. Evan and he explained why Edward was doing poorly and how his heart wasn't working properly. Dr. Evan decided to relieve some of that pressure by injecting a needle and removing the excess fluid. The procedure itself is risky and given Edward's bad heart and rapid breathing, it was risky. Unfortunately, Dr. Evan entered the room to tell me that the procedure wasn't able to be completed. When they do this procedure, a slightly yellowish tint would be what's extracted. In Edward's case, he has red blood cells also entering the syringe. In short, this means that Edward liver is also not doing a good job and the RBC's are there to help protect his liver. Its slightly harder to explain, but this in a way is helping him seal things in his liver but at then same time, we aren't able to remove the excess fluid in his abdomen. If we do, he'll just go into shock and pass away shortly after. They still managed to pull out 1 cc which will still give him some relief. His prognosis is not good & I'll just have to wait and see when he decides to cross the rainbow bridge. He's currently napping a ton, ate some veggies, and had millet 💜 November 16, 2022 Yesterday Edward was at the vet for a check-up and we saw Dr. Nur 🥰Because of Edwards poor heart and extra fluid build-up, he needs to be seen on a more regular basis to get the excess fluid from his abdomen drained. Dr. Nur did say Edward should be feeling a bit better with some of that fluid gone. His medication will be going up to 7 drops of Lasik and we'll be making another visit in a months time. December 12, 2022 Today Edward had another vet visit. We saw Dr. Rick today. Edward got a bit of a beak trim and after some trimming, Dr. Rick saw indications of him having liver issues. It was also decided to get some fluids removed from his abdomen. This time around about 2 ml worth of fluids were removed. His medication will increase to 10 drops of Lasik. we also will be giving him some milk thistle (2 drops) to his water bowl. 23.03.2017 - 22.12.2022 Edward passed away anywhere from between 10PM to 8AM. I went to check on Edward, as I do every morning, but unfortunately saw his lifeless body. The past two days, I have been trying to do a photoshoot with my flock. Little did I know that it would be the last photoshoot I would ever have of my boy. I knew I wanted to create memories because I just knew Edward won’t be here with me for much longer - I just didn’t think it would be this soon…Edward for the past few months has been having frequent vet visits because he had fluid that was pooling in his heart making breathing difficult. He had to be on medications (Lasik), but he also had to get a syringe in his abdomen to remove the excess fluid to make him breathe better. In his last appointment, our vet saw Edward also had indications of liver problems, so he was also on therapeutic medication (Milk Thistle) to assist with his liver not functioning properly. Most English budgies don’t live very long - Edward was 5, and in three months, he would’ve been 6. Edward was always a very timid boy but always stepped up. Would you believe me if I say I have never been bitten by him? He LOVED swings. It didn’t matter what kind. He just loved swings so much. He would sway back and forth and then doze off. He was the gentlest boy ever, I’m going to miss him so much. I am very heartbroken not to have him with me anymore. He is now with his friends Snowy, Limon, Kiwi, and Basil. If I knew before that it was going to be our last day yesterday, knowing with a heavy heart what the next day was going to bring, I simply said to him, “Thank you my love." 💜 (Not monetized)
