Hiking way out into the Abyss of old abandoned colonial farmlands here in New Hampshire it is always an adventure. I took my Fisher F19 and hit the woods early with the lovely autumn weather in full foliage bloom. I took the old wagon trial cart path down to a huge stone bridge hundreds of years old and then headed for the rock walls off in the distance. Early settlers landed out here in the 1700s and by the mid 1800s these old homesites were abandoned and they have been deserted since. Metal detecting old places like this anything is possible but you have to read the landscape history to find it, and I did. I came upon a small area where somebody was attempting to clear and improve the land and they left behind a couple stacks of rocks. Old field stones piled t the edge of the groomed chunk of land, and its a small spot. But with that I did some relic hunting and was fortunate to find a couple of relics at the least a couple of hundred years old. A great way to spend the day in New England, exploring, thinking , hiking, digging and metal detecting.
