Remember way back in Episode 6, Argonaut went north into Canada with Leo and his crew on Tally Ho? We stopped for a day in Cowichan Bay where Tally Ho raced against Dorothy, Canada's oldest wooden sailboat that recently went through an incredible restoration and received an award for it at the recent Victoria Classic Boat Festival. On that trip, we walked the docks at the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre and saw a wonderful little 28-foot double ender named "Manna." Cosí and Nick left the owner a note, and here we are 9 months later, the two of them purchased Manna. This episode focuses on a trip north with friends to pick Manna up and sail her back down to Washington. We make a trip through Port Townsend, Decatur Island in the San Juan Islands, and clear through Canadian Customs via Sidney before arriving to Cowichan Bay. After some fun dinners and a reunion party, we make our way back via Anacortes, the Swinomish channel that connects Fidalgo Bay with Skagit Bay, and the inside route of Whidbey Island to Port Madison. Along with a bunch of cruising and cooking, we dive into how the Ballard Locks (formerly Hiram H. Chittenden locks) work and talk through how commercial and recreational vessels navigate between the freshwater lakes of Seattle (Lake Union and Lake Washington) out to the saltwater of Puget Sound.
