Dhauladhar Mountain range comprises of huge lofty mountains near to the snow line of Himalayas. It is easily approachable from plains. There are more than 35 passes between Dalhousie and "Bada Bhangal" ridges at the height of 3500 meters to 5000 meters. "Indrahar Pass" is one of these Passes. These Passes cater an easy access to Ravi Valley and Middle Himalayas. It is difficult to live at high altitudes of Himalayas. Due to less oxygen at such heights it becomes difficult to breathe in here. Therefore it is advisable for the beginners to take on these treks slow and steady. Trekkers should follow all the necessary advisory before they embark on such an endeavors. Third Day Trek Route: Illaqua Gote - Illaqua Glacier - Lahesh Cave - Indrahar Pass - Sukk Dali - Chhatta Parao. Lahesh Cave is 1.5 Kms from Illaqua Gote. Chhatta Parao is about 7-8 Kms from Lahesh Cave. This Trek route traverses above the Rock Face and there are steep slope gradients at some places. Another parameter that poses challenge to trekkers is ever changing weather. During April till June it becomes precarious to trek here due to slippery ice like surface. It is more than estimated difficulty to trek here during this time of the year. Therefore trekkers should have proper equipment to traverse this route. This trek is clear from snow during monsoon and fall season. It is relatively easy to trekk during this time of the year. Lahesh Cave is at a distance of 1.5 Kms from Illaqua Gote. Lahesh Cave is approximately at an altitude of 3500 meters from the sea level. Lahesh Cave is a natural hilltop cave which can accommodate about 8 - 10 people for stay. One has to sit and drag into the cave as it is not high enough at the entrance. Mountaineers and experienced trekkers reach Lahesh Cave in one day from Dharamshala. Illaqua Gote and Lahesh Cave are ideal places for base camping. Temperature falls below zero degrees during nights. Dhauladhar Mountain range is marked by various glaciers and lakes with associated history. Locals have their faith system associated with these pious lakes. They travel twice an year to pay their obeisance to these historical lakes. These lakes are considered to be holy as associated with residence of Lord Shiva. LamDal lake and NagDal lake are the foremost lakes to cater to the spiritual perspective of the locals. Ever changing weather, snow storms are part and parcel of these high altitudes. Finally we have reached Indrahar Pass which is at an altitude of 4350 meters from sea level. Indrahar Pass facilitates a beautiful view of both Kangra Valley and Chamba Valley both. It also caters to view of lofty mountains comprising Middle Himalayas and Greater Himalayas. Pass is termed as "Jot" in local language. As per local beliefs "Jotashni Mata" resides in these Passes. Along with Jotashni Devi local "Shiv Bhagats" also worship Rain God "Inder Devta" by offering "Trishools" - trident spears. There is one trek that goes downwards to "Chhatta Parao" where you can see a natural cave. "Chhatta Parao" is about 7-8 Kms from Lahesh Cave. "Chhatta Parao" is at an altitude of 3700 meters from sea level. Har Har Mahadev 🙏
