Baked Onions - A Delicious Side That Tastes Like French Onion Soup - Rich, Savory,Flavorful

Baked Onions 1 large sweet onion 1-2 tablespoons butter 1 beef bullion cube Peel onion and remove just enough of the root end so that it will sit flat. Using a small spoon or a melon baller, remove a large scoop of the onion from the top center. Using a large sharp knife, slice halfway down through the onion four times, making eight wedges in the top of the onion. Pack the scooped out area with butter and then push one beef bullion cube down into the butter. Wrap the onion loosely in heavy aluminum foil, making sure to wrap loosely so that the juices have a place to accumulate during baking. Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 1 1/2 hours.
