As a young kid I would fall asleep to the radio. It was very cool to be up late hearing songs that didn't get steady or regular airplay. One problem with that though, if they didn't say the name of the song, or band, you had no way of finding out who or what it was. No internet, or Shazam. : (( One night I heard Berlin's "The Metro" and I loved it instantly. I still do today! It may surprise some of you, but I do. I love all kinds of music and different songs. (This was way before Berlin had their massive hit "Take my breath away.") Soon after I happened to see the video on MTV and I remembered the name of the band from then on. Anyway, the bass line is played on a keyboard and is a 16th note arpeggiated ostinato. This was fun to figure out (Including the keyboard melodies and solo) and is a blast to play. I play the main part (The arpeggio bit) on the A and D strings. Opting to not use the G string for the high D note, because of the thinner sound on the G string. So, the fingering was what I thought worked best for me, you may like using the G string, or using my pattern but a different fingering pattern. It is a great song for your string plucking hand. A constant stream of sixteenth notes. Have fun, enjoy and take a ride on The Metro.
