Cork Harbour vies for the title of second largest natural harbour in the world (after Sydney Harbour). The largest island in the harbour is Great Island, with the busy town of Cobh on its south coast. There is only one road and one rail route onto the island, but there is also a ferry for road vehicles in operation - the Passage West Ferry. • Cork Cycling: Passage West (Glenbrook) Ferry There used also be an equivalent East Ferry on the opposite side of the island that crossed the narrow straits where Belvelly Channel drains into the main harbour. It no longer operates but there is a beautiful tree-lined mainland road that follows the channel around the headland. Shot on a helmet-mounted GoPro10 camera on the 14th May 2025.
