The church dedicated to the martyr Saint Victor is first mentioned in a document from 1031, where it already appears as the main temple on Lake Maggiore. The first oratory had been built in the 4th century, after the passage of Saints Julius and Julian. The new large church was built in the 12th century, in Romanesque style with three very wide naves. The most important information on the layout of the original church is contained in the deeds of the Bishop of Novara, confirmed in 1705 by the drawings of a famous architect. The bell tower was built between two apses and the presbytery was considerably raised due to the presence of an ancient crypt. The plan of the church recalled the typical architecture of the churches of Milan, a sign of the lordship's dominion over the entire Verbania area. The new majestic temple was built in the first half of the 18th century and completed with a neoclassical façade at the end of the same century. The interior is in the Baroque style typical of Lombardy, a sign of the great artistic finesse and great financial disposition of the faithful of Intra. The 48-metre high bell tower was completed in 1878 with the casting of the new concert of eight bells in the musical scale of B major, the work of the Pasquale Mazzola foundry. The church has a Latin cross plan with a single nave, which opens into four chapels on each side and ends in the solemn presbytery, which is entirely frescoed. The interior was extensively decorated in the 18th century, arriving at its current splendour thanks to the restorations promoted by the current parish priest.
