JOIN BROADCAST PLAZA TODAY, DISCORD'S MEDIA DISCUSSION COMMUNITY — http://bit.ly/S31MA Nexstar Media Group is America’s largest local television and media company with 197 full power stations in 115 markets addressing nearly 63% of US television households. All of their stations end their newscasts and all other local programming with a mostly-standardized animation sequence and corresponding musical theme. Nexstar has used corporate closing sequences to copyright their stations' shows since the early 2000s. This particular sequence began use October 19, 2019 to coincide with Nexstar's closing of their acquisition of Tribune Media. This one is basically an evolution of the one that began use in 2017 ( • Nexstar Media Group station endtag montage... ) to coincide with Nexstar's closing of their acquisition of Media General. For a company this big though, there is a lot of variation in the current generation so I figured we'll use this video to explore as much as possible (I got the vast majority, but not all of their stations for various reasons). The sequence begins by zooming out of the state the station is located in (in theory, because one Texas station zooms out of Kansas...). If multiple states are in the viewing area the animation can account for that too. The word "LOCAL", which is the company's operating philosophy, is also featured prominently. The fonts for this also vary wildly depending on the station and whether they installed the correct fonts or not. A map of the US then appears to show all of the markets Nexstar is in while the logo flies on to the screen and the map fades away. The copyright and stock symbol information for the company then appear. A couple of smaller-market stations have also included their call letters and city of license, for whatever reason. Towns in the viewing area for the station appear in the background at the end (again, in theory, because the KX Net stations in North Dakota have towns in the Nashville-area in their close!). It's a fitting closing sequence for the nation's largest broadcaster, and the animations look great. I prefer the old music though better, this one just seems too subtle for my taste. I captured most of these myself, with credit given if it's not my clip.
