In September I took a 5 day trip out to Utah to film the last remaining heavy haul electric freight railroad in the United States, the Deseret Power Railway. Isolated from the rest of the US rail network, the coal-hauling railroad straddles the Utah/Colorado border between the mine loadout near Rangely and the powerplant at Bonanza. Rusty and the crew at the Deseret were extremely welcoming and were great helps in learning the rhythm and rountine of the DPR's operations! The E60C-2s of the Deseret are the last remaining, and the first ones I've seen since my two trips out to the Black Mesa & Lake Powell. Day 1 focuses on drone footage I took with permission in and around the mine loadout, as well as both morning and swing shift trains at the loop track, Bonanza, Holum Pass, and Mormon Gap!
