The Oric MCP-40 is one of the official peripherals released for the Oric range of computers. It was first released in 1983 in a white and black model - matching the look of the Oric 1 -, and was soon followed by the black and red model that most people have used. Because of the narrow width of the paper format (114mm / 4.5 inch) it was not usable for business work, but because of its ability to draw fine graphics in multiple colors, it was totally suited for mathematical work, or simply drawing vector graphics. The printer itself was cheap and reliable, but the pens used by the machine were extremely expensive considering how small they were and how fast they would empty. Inside the machine you will find the same ALPS mechanism found on many other devices of this period, such as the Atari 1020, Commodore 1520, Canon X-710, Sharp CE-150, Radio Shack CGP-115 or even the Texas Instruments HX-1000 and Sega SP-400. --=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-= The Defence Force blog: http://blog.defence-force.org The Defence Force forums: http://forum.defence-force.org The Defence Force games and demos: http://www.defence-force.org we also have a twitter account and a facebook page Twitter: / defenceforceorg Facebook: / defenceforceorg and if you want to code on the Oric, we have a Software Development kit for you: The Oric SDK: http://osdk.defence-force.org
