The Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year in Binondo, Manila is a spectacle worth experiencing. I was swept away by the whirlwind of bright colours, booming drums and tantalising food on offer. It was an experience like no other, a feast for the senses and a joyous explosion of culture and a chance to immerse myself in the Filipino - Chinese tradition. Streets overflowing in red and gold the lucky colours of the Chinese new Year. Lion and dragon dances weave their way through the crowded streets. Drums and cymbals clash with the thunderous beat of drums. It’s not just the spectacle I came to see; Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world and comes alive with ancient traditions.
