John D. Leitch- The Most Unique Lake Boat. Either You Love It Or You Hate It! (8/10/25)

Here we have the MV John D. Leitch arriving downbound on the St. Clair River on a beautiful mid-morning on August 10th, 2025. They were heading to the Sarnia Shell Fuel Dock just a little ways down the River to take on fuel before heading back up to load salt in Goderich Ontario. The John D. Leitch is probably the most interesting and unique ships to sail on the lakes too this day. For starters, the Leitch is the final classic, forward pilot house freighter to sail for Algoma. Algoma has undergone a fleet renewal program by scraping all their old ships and replacing them with highly efficient bulk carriers. But that's not what only makes this ship so unique. It is also the obvious apartment building it has as a wheel house that sticks out like a soar thumb. This ship is purely and "Either you love it or hate it." I personally love it and is one of my favorite lake boats.
