Recipe: How To Make Nasi, Surinamese Fried Rice | CWF

For those that wonder what Nasi is, that's fried rice, Surinamese style. It's super delicious, if you cook it right of course! Nasi was one of my favorite dishes back then. I prefer it over bami (spaghetti). My mom has taught me how to make the nasi she has been making for years and also used to sell in her restaurant Deja Vu on Sint Maarten. So let's cut to the chase. Here is how you make this delicious NASI! Ingredients: 250 grams chicken fillet (boiled in salt) 2 cups of rice (uncooked) 1 tablespoon brown sugar 2 tablespoons soy sauce (Color to liking) Black pepper Salt (to liking) 1 celery stick chopped 1 small onion chopped 4 garlic cloves chopped 4 Maggie blocks 4 tablespoons oil 1/4 cup of water Method: Cook the rice and let it cool down. Boil the chicken fillet and after cooling down you tear it to strings (pulled chicken). When oil is hot, add your garlic, onion, brown sugar, Maggie, black pepper, soy sauce, water. Leave fry. Add pulled chicken, let it cook for 2 minutes. Add rice, mix this. If color is too light, add some more soy sauce. Stir it and taste it for the saltiness of the dish. Add more salt if you prefer more. Add celery to rice, stir it and leave it cook for 5-7 minutes. & Ready to eat! Enjoy this dish!!
