📘 Discover my first book: 👉 Top 99 Most Planted Wine Grapes in the World 🔗 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GC5KRHGF In Vivianne’s journey through wine regions, this book is the perfect companion — a guide to the grapes that shape global wine culture. From classics like Cabernet Sauvignon to hidden gems planted in remote corners of the world, it’s a beautifully structured reference for anyone who loves wine, storytelling, and terroir. 🍇 Explore. Learn. Taste the world. Bonsoir, mes chéris… Tonight, we sip from vines that few have heard of—but many should. Grapes that speak not in shouts, but in whispers of heritage and hope. Welcome to Plavai and Viorica—Moldova’s vinous secrets. Let us begin with the elder… 🍇 Plavai – The Forgotten Whisper Plavai is one of Moldova’s oldest indigenous white grapes, cultivated for centuries in the Codru region. Once widespread, it nearly vanished during Soviet collectivization—but today, it is being revived by passionate winemakers. Color: Pale straw Aromas: Apple blossom, green pear, and meadow herbs Palate: Crisp acidity, light body, and subtle minerality Style: Dry white wines, often unoaked to preserve freshness Plavai is a grape of restraint and resilience—perfect for summer sipping and seafood pairings. It is a symbol of Moldova’s quiet revival. 🌸 Viorica – The Aromatic Star Viorica is a modern Moldovan hybrid, created in 1969 by crossing Seibel 13-666 (French-American) and Aleatico(Italian). Though both parents are red, Viorica is a white grape—a genetic surprise with intense aromatics. Color: Pale gold Aromas: Lychee, jasmine, orange blossom, and muscat spice Palate: Medium-bodied, floral, and expressive Style: Dry or semi-sweet whites, often used in sparkling wine production Viorica is resistant to disease and frost, making it ideal for Moldova’s continental climate. It is grown in Ștefan Vodăand Valul lui Traian, and increasingly featured in boutique and biodynamic wines. 🍷 Notable Producers Gitana Winery – Biodynamic Viorica with floral finesse Château Vartely – Crisp Plavai and expressive Viorica Cricova – Sparkling Viorica aged in limestone cellars Et Cetera – Small-batch Viorica with muscat charm 🐉 Why Plavai & Viorica? Because they are Moldova’s voice in the glass—one ancient, one new. They are not global grapes. They are local legends, crafted with care and courage. So pour a glass of Viorica. Let it bloom. Let it breathe. Because when you sip with Vivienne, you don’t just taste wine. You taste the story.
