Milder-than-average morning temperatures are still once present with some passing clouds & some gusty winds for some mixing that dry air around. However, the wind is coming more from the northeast out east, so it's starting off colder than yesterday morning on the backside of yesterday afternoon's gusty system that briefly moved through with a jet stream drop. Air temperatures in the north are starting off mostly from around the teens to the 30s with higher humidity, while elsewhere to the south, air temperatures are mostly ranging from the upper 20s to near 50°. Slightly cooler air for most will be in store today, but despite the cooldown, way-above-normal high temperatures will once again be mostly set. Areas from East New Mexico to the Pecos River Valley area will range from the high 50s to the 70s from north to south from high to low elevation. Calmer easterly to southwesterly surface winds will form because of calmer upper-level southwesterly winds aloft that are still set to go up, over, and down the northeast-sloped mountain faces, still leading to the mild process at the surface. The northern higher elevations will range from the 40s to the 50s, while the northern valley floors to western and central areas will mostly range from the 60s to the lower 80s. Fire weather chances will be lower today with the elevated fire threat conditions in few local areas. The ridge of high pressure, also responsible for the warming process, which previously broke down, will briefly strengthen a bit as it will continue to steer in some clouds with stronger southwesterly downsloping winds tomorrow, with some blowing dust and some reduced visibility as a result. Temperatures will remain above average for fewer areas with the even bigger cooldown later this week with pockets of higher humidity, accompanied by some precipitation eventually, in northern to northeastern areas.
